Separation Columns GC and HPLC
GC Capillary Columns
Capillary columns for gas chromatography allow for complex separations of a wide range of analytes with extremely high sensitivity. Due to their versatility and performance, capillary separation columns have become indispensable from waste water analysis to quality control of pharmaceutical substances, from basic research to process monitoring in the chemical industry.
In the broadest sense, phases for capillary gas chromatography are divided into the non-polar to moderately polar siloxanes and the highly polar Wax phases. The polarity and volatility of the analytes are decisive for the selection of the separation phase; the separation performance and also the time required for separation can then be optimized by selecting the other column parameters such as column length and inner diameter as well as the film thickness.
CS-Chromatographie Service GmbH has been producing high-quality capillary columns of all common phases since 1985, including various special phases, for example for H53 analysis or enantiomer separations. Thanks to our in-house production, special dimensions are also available according to customer requirements. Please contact us!

Packed GC Columns
Packed GC columns have been forgotten by many users, as capillary separation columns have been established as the “state of the art” in gas chromatography for many years. However, packed GC columns have many advantages that even make them superior to capillary separation columns in some applications.
It is true that the separation performance that can be achieved with packed columns is generally lower than that of capillary separation columns. However, many other factors play a role, especially for simple routine applications. For example, packed GC columns are usually more cost-effective and, thanks to the larger amount of stationary phase they contain, often have a longer service life. Mechanically, packed columns are also much more robust than fragile capillary columns made of fused silica. In addition, there is an almost endless choice of support materials for packed columns for adsorption and/or partition chromatography as well as stationary phases, which can be further optimized for the respective application via the particle size and the coating percentage. Finally, the sample capacity of packed columns is considerably higher than that of capillary columns, so that even less sensitive detectors (such as thermal conductivity detectors) can be used.
CS-Chromatographie Service GmbH has experience in the production of packed GC separation columns since 1985. We have over 500 stationary phases, over 50 carrier materials and over 100 adsorption media in stock, which means that even unusual column requirements can be produced quickly and reliably. The hardware we use is resistant stainless steel tubing or the particularly inert INNOSteel tubing, a stainless steel tube coated on the inside with silica, which combines the flexibility and durability of stainless steel with the outstanding chromatographic properties of glass columns.

HPLC Columns
HPLC is a very versatile separation and analysis method, which also allows the separation of non-volatile substances and can even be used for preparative purposes. Over the years, a large selection of different separation phases has been established, from the generally applicable C18 and C8 reversed phases based on silica gel, to normal phases such as Si, cyano and diol phases for the separation of strongly polar analytes, to special phases, for example for separations of sugars, or polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
CS-Chromatographie Service GmbH has been producing high-quality HPLC columns of all common phases since 1985, including various special phases, for example for PFAS, sugar, PAH and enantiomer separations. Thanks to our in-house production, special dimensions and preparative columns are also available according to customer requirements. We also carry out contract packing of materials provided by the customer. Please contact us!

CS Multo Phases
CS-ODS
is a versatile and inexpensive alternative to many common C18 phases.
MultoHigh-U
are ultra-high purity silica gel phases specifically developed for UHPLC with a particle size of 2.1 µm and particularly low back pressure. They allow fast analyses with high resolution and sensitivity.
MultoHigh
is the name for the high-performance silica gel-based phases from CS. The base is an ultra-high purity silica gel, which is coated using new and optimized bonding technologies. This results in phases with excellent separation performance and very high stability.
MultoHigh-BIO
The phases of the MultoHigh-BIO series correspond to the MultoHigh silica gel, but with pore sizes and binding technologies specifically optimized for the investigation of biomolecules such as proteins and peptides.
Multospher HP and Multospher AQ
These high-quality, universally applicable chromatography phases are based on high-purity silica gel with a pore diameter of 120 Å. The designation HP stands for High Purity, AQ stands for “Aqua”, i.e. a phase that can be operated with 100 % aqueous mobile phase.
Multospher
Multospher stands for the CS phases that have been tried and tested for decades. A very extensive range of different coverings, pore sizes and particle sizes is available here.
Multospher special phases
Various phases have been developed with special areas of application in mind. These include Multospher PSM (plant protection products), Multospher PAH-III (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), Multospher FBS (for basic substances) and Multospher Cation (mono- and divalent cations and amines) as well as Multospher PFAS (perfluorinated alkyl substances, PFAS).
MultoFluor Select
An innovative specialty phase for difficult separations that cannot be performed satisfactorily on standard C18 phases. MultoFluor Select has a special selectivity due to the inclusion of pentafluorophenyl groups in addition to a normal C18 loading. This enables the separation of substituted aromatics, active pharmaceutical ingredients and amines in particular. In contrast to the usual pure pentafluorophenyl phases, the C18 content of this phase means that shape recognition can also be used as a separation mechanism for regioisomers. This phase is also suitable for use with 100 % aqueous eluents.
Multohyp
The specifications of the base silica gel and the coating of Multohyp are almost identical to those of Hypersil. Multohyp is therefore a suitable, cost-effective alternative.
MultoKrom
MultoKrom offers a real alternative to the frequently used Kromasil phases. The chromatographic behavior of both phases is almost identical due to the very similar silica gel base and the comparable coating. A large selection of phases (incl. AQ and BDS C18) is available.
MultoWorb
The phases of the MultoWorb series offer an excellent, cost-effective alternative to the Waters Spherisorb materials. Due to an almost identical silica gel base and coating, the separation properties are virtually identical to the respective Spherisorb material.
